RCC (Roller Compacted Concrete) has been around for many years. As construction practices and standards progress, RCC has also progressed with placement and finishing practices allowing it to be used as an innovative construction standard. This presentation will provide an overview of RCC, including mix and design, placement methods and practices, and how RCC differs from conventional concrete and asphalt pavements. Our goal is to give examples of lessons learned with standard asphalt designs and street construction and show opportunities and benefits of incorporating RCC into future project designs as an alternative approach to pavement solutions.
